Following the explosive opening of Britney, Lonely shifts into a confident message of self-worth after heartbreak. Produced by Darkchild (Rodney Jerkins), the track blends futuristic R&B with sharp electronic production as Britney rejects a former lover who only realizes her value after she's gone. Though never released as a single, Lonely has become a fan favorite for its slick production, memorable chorus, and one of the album's strongest vocal performances.
